1-1 Private Windowpane Sinamay Hat Class
In this week-long millinery intensive, you will learn how to block windowpane sinamay (also known as lattice, fishnet or mesh sinamay) on the bias to create a dramatic brim. Windowpane can be difficult to work with, but I’ll demonstrate tricks for blocking and wiring this novelty material so that you can achieve beautiful couture results.
Student will work with plain sinamay to block a crown, with the option of a windowpane overlay. We will then finish the hats by securing the brim wire, sewing in a grosgrain sweatband, and joining crown and brim. The third session will focus on adding trims to complete the hat.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a 10 hr course with exact times and dates to be determined. Ideally, we meet on Zoom for 3 hrs each day Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday with a final follow-up session of 1 hr on Friday.
Skill Level: Previous millinery experience is recommended, especially familiarity with blocking sinamay.
