Open Crown Sinamay Hat Class
machine-woven straw with a very open weave. It must be used in layers to create a hat and in this class, you will learn two different techniques for blocking sinamay. The vintage-inspired open crown will be draped and sculpted using a length of bias sinamay, and the brim will be blocked in three layers with a wired and bound edge.
I will be bringing a selection of wooden brim blocks to choose from; the open crown will be designed on a balsa utility form. If you have not made a traditional crown in one of my previous sinamay classes and wish to do so, please add a note to your order and we can discuss options.
We will meet 11 am - 5 pm each day, with a 30 minute break for lunch.
This is an intermediate level class. Prior millinery experience is recommended but not required.
